In Vivo Danse

The choreographers, Christine Gérard, Alban Richard, Mark Lorimer and Clinton Stringer invent their collaborative methods with 6 composers: a round-trip from music to dance, from the stage to the research studio.

Developing in the universe of percussion and electronics, In Vivo Dance 2013 combines writing for the movement of both sonorous and dancing bodies. This program supervised by the percussionist Samuel Favre, a soloist from the Ensemble intercontemporain and by Thierry De Mey will be featured in this evening’s program, opens the doors to a new type of artistic encounter.

Composition Workshops

Stockhausen

Mantra: no theme, no face, no melody, just a “magic formula” following the Sanskrit tradition. In 1970, Stockhausen created this polyrhythmic, polyphonic work based on a formula of 13 sounds.

His inexhaustible invention is carried out with two pianos equipped with small percussions, augmented by processing techniques opera by ring modulation. Jean-François Heisser and Jean-Frédéric Neuburger have created the subject of a workshop-concert from this visionary journey.

In Vivo Video

How is the initial idea of a video modified by musical writing? Six composers take part in this writing and editing exercise during In Vivo Vidéo created with the Fresnoy and led by the composer Andrea Cera. The existing videos are by Clorinde Durand, Éric Oriot, and Daniel Browne.

For electric musical theater! Following In Vivo Théâtre 2012 with Ludovic Lagarde and a young generation of French directors, Heiner Goebbels is coordinating the In Vivo Théâtre 2013 workshop. How have computer technologies cornered artists’ studios, the stage, our raw strength?

Anna Schewelew and Fabian Offert, two young stage designers from the Giessen Institute where Heiner Goebbels teaches, meet the imagination of Laurent Durupt. The musicians from Le Balcon on parole, connected to a misplaced server on the stage of the Bouffes du Nord that has become and electronic circuit. In the Baroque esthetic of Professor Bad Trip, completed in 2000, Fausto Romitelli had already staged another form of addiction: the loss of control and experiencing the void.
